Admission

CONFIRMATION PERIOD for incoming First Years (2016-2017): MARCH 1-21, 2016

No student shall be denied admission to the University by reason of age, sex, nationality, religious belief or political affiliation.

Every applicant for admission shall undergo a thorough health examination. No person shall be admitted to this University found by the University Health Service to be with a dangerous, communicable, contagious or infectious disease or who is physically unfit to take the courses in any college of the University.

ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS
Incoming Freshmen:
The entrance requirements for each course shall be prescribed by the faculty of the college offering the course and approved by the University Council and the President of the University.
1. Through UPCAT Graduates of accredited high schools may be admitted as freshmen into the University of the Philippines on the following bases: (1) their performance in the UP College Admissions Test (UPCAT); (2) their weighted average in the first three years of high school and; (3) their choice of UP Campus and the quota set for specific course/colleges/units set by the respective Deans.

2. PEPT Certificate Holders Holders of the Philippine Educational Placement Test (PEPT) certificated in lieu of a high school diploma may be admitted ti the University as new freshmen provided they pass the UPCAT. Foreign Students In the case of students coming from foreign countries, they shall be required to meet substantially the entrance requirements prescribed for a course; Provided, that their previous training was obtained in an institution of recognized standing; and Provided, further, that there is a place for them in the college of school.

Applicants who graduated from high school abroad may be admitted as beginning freshmen into non-quota programs without taking the UPCAT; Provided, that they meet the following requirements: Completion of the high school program in the country where he had his secondary education; Qualify in an equivalent college-qualifying national or international foreign administered examination such as the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT), the General Certificate of Education Examination (GCE) etc.; and, in the case of an applicant whose native language or whose medium of instruction in the secondary school is not English, taking the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).
